Cebik's (W4RNL) web page at: http://www.cebik.com/gp/gp.html and more good general information at the main site: http://www.cebik.com (B.T.W.) Cebik demonstrates on his web page that term "counterpoise" is meaningless when refering to antennas. I believe that you will find the best solution is resonant radials. Ground stakes are more helpful for static/lightning protection. -- 73 Warren K2ORS/WD2XGJ FN42hi http://www.w4dex.com/wd2xgj.htm > Hi all, > > I have just obtained a Sandpiper V9 multi-band vertical (160m -10m), can any > of you with experience of this type of antenna offer me an answer? > > Should I use :- > > 1 - Resonant length counterpoises > 2 - Random length counterpoises > 3 - Ground spike/rod > 4 - Both counterpoises & earth rod? > > The manufacturer says mount 18 inches above ground & connect bracket to > earth spike.
