The old 3c5 tv line o/p transformers are equally as good as the modern 3c8/3c9 series. I have subsituted these for the 3c8 type and the output is exactly the same and they do not get hot up to the 1kw level (one core),
When I get time I am going to substitute the old air wound coils in the Decca with some of these tv cores and see what happens, I do not expect any problems and they make the unit more compact.
