Dear LF Group,

Good reception of SAQ again this morning at 0815 and 0915 utc. Between the broadcasts, the station was mostly sending V's, and he operators spent some time apparently tweaking the frequency control of the alternator, in which they were successful because the "chirp" in the second broadcast was reduced from about 60Hz to within 10Hz.

The test program also gave me time to measure the field strength, which worked out to 340uV/m. Using G4FGQ's "grndwav" software, ground- and diffraction losses work out to about 4dB, and taking this into account, the ERP of SAQ is about 7kW.

The QRN noise level seems to have stayed quite low, so if you haven't already done so, this afternoon's broadcasts would be a good time to listen out for SAQ.

Cheers, Jim Moritz
