It must be true, surely this is how the Enterprise communicates with Starfleet Command instantaneously over untold numbers of light years...... 
Apparently the source of the field can simultaneously be everywhere and nowhere at all, so by generating the field somewhere within the lattice of those marvelous dilithium crystals, they don't even need E-H antennas to get the job done.  At this rate, mankind will soon achieve the electromagnetic equivalent of Prof. Harold Hill's "think system" in The Music Man.
