European LW broadcast stations are almost never heard in California, and even the Experimental Service licensees on 166kHz don't put much signal strength out there, so Ed Gelinas has a relatively signal-free environment for covering his neighborhood. He has only operated it with amplitude modulation so far, but is considering operating it as a conventional Morse beacon during his "non-broadcast" hours later this year. John Davis
