Thanks Jim / Michael / Andy for comments on the core saga.

The final outcome is a strange one. 

As from Jan 2004 Ferroxcube are no longer colour coding their toroid products. Apparently the use of ISO9000 type procedures in keeping track of quality / sources and storage make the colour codes unnecessary.

This means that if you order something direct then you should get the correct product.
However, once that quality assurance path is broken, you are on your own.
Not to mention that all the cores appear to be white.......which is the same colour as the 3C11 material pre and post Jan 2004. And it's not the best colour for radiating heat from the core.
