The same format as previous beacon tests will be used, with 120 second dot length, 0.42 Hz FSK, with transmission code repeated QQQQQ.... with each Q coded as [hi hi lo hi off] : hi = 137.7890 kHz lo = 137.7886 kHz Timing will be such that the start of a Q coincides with the hour. It takes 10 minutes per Q, so there are six Qs per hour. The DDS exciter has a frequency shift of 0.42 Hz, and the tones should be within 0.1 Hz of the declared frequencies. If the SSB backup exciter needs to be called upon, the frequency shift would be 0.4 Hz. The ZL hours of darkness in late December are nominally 0750 UTC (sunset) till 1655 UTC (sunrise). The beacon will be transmitting from before sunset till after sunrise, and close down during daytime. The only planned exception from continuous beacon format overnight is for a 30 minute time slot to try for a two-way LF SSB QSO with AX2TAR in VK7, between 1500 and 1530 UTC on Saturday. 73, Bob ZL2CA
