Hello Mal,
I´m rather impressed by your success on receiving. Seems I am far behind you. However, it might depend on the noiselevel. Here, next to Mainflingen, the noise is -90 dBm with BW=100 Hz in the noisegaps. Antenna is umbrella 23m high with 325 pF on the top. How abt the  noise on your side?
It seems to me that I had better results with a marconi only 12m high and only 120pF on top. With this antenna, for example, I did copy G2LDO audiable. Not so with a loop of 1.8m diameter, grounded or ungrounded.

Hi Peter
Some measurements today using a SIEMENS D2155 PEGELMESSER- 20Hz b/width
Antenna 80 metre perimiter loop parallel resonated for 137 khz
Antenna disconnected -118db
Antenna connected     -105db       (no rf amplifier etc, just matching capacitor to resonate)
Signal DCF                 -33db

This is fairly accurate but there is some QRN rain static about.

The measurements on G3YXM signal a couple of days ago was using speclab and was relative because it depends on the RX AF setting for noise floor, but the relative measurement of 55db of signal above noise should be authentic.

My resonated vertical has more gain over the loop, will check sometime and let you know if interested. When I get more time will measure both antennas at the same time and let you know.
The loop is probably a little quieter than the vertical but the vertical is very good because of my low environmental noise. Only rain static QRN bothers me like everyone else hi

Hi Mal,
thanks for very intersting info. Yours and others levels of nois and signals are very useful for me to give me an impression of my new umbrella.  Was it worth the amount of sweat and €? So dont hesitate to go on measuring. I am based on Siemens Pegelmesser D 2108 and W&G SNA-1. RX is an FT 1000 250Hz IF-BW with commercial frontendfilter plus notch for our qrg.
TX is not yet ready but I work on it.
So vy 73 de Peter, dj9dw.
