We noted the 1998 event in the LWCA journal, The LOWDOWN. I can't place my hands on that number right now, but as I recall, we reported that one researcher said the X-rays were strong enough to have sterilized all life from any earth-size planets within 2000 light-years of the event. Wouldn't want one of those in our neighbourhood. John
