The antenna consists of  six 127m high vertical top  fed radiators in line, each with its own earth tuning coil and earth electrode. This decreases the earth loss because each earth electrode carries a current I/N, in which I is the total earth current and N the number of radiators = number of earth electrodes. The gain results from the fact that the total earth loss is  N times the loss around  each electrode  but the loss at each electrode decreases at (I/N) squared. The system was invented by Alexanderson, also designer of the alternator used at Grimeton.
