For myself I'd rather like the version using 6SQ7 (or was it 6Q7GT?) than the latter - particularly since it is difficult to find the components from a reasonable source 73 Jan-Martin LA8AK http://home.online.no/~la8ak/8.htm --- J M Nøding, Datakvalitet, TTS, Kristiansand Telefon 0047-380-52660, 9077-7126 (QTH: 0047-380-87178) -----Original Message----- From: Alan Melia [mailto:Alan.Melia@btinternet.com] Sent: 7. mai 2003 18:52 To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org Subject: LF: Re: Amateur Magnetometer Network Needs Your Assistance Hi Simon other than the fact that people are down here because the build things and like experimenting, I suspect the magnetometer is probably not as much use to the LFer as it is to the VHFer. There is a 2 to 3 day gap at LF before any radio effects of a geomag storm are felt, plenty time to be lazy and consult NOAA (like I do). I do have a load of measurements from Andy who built up one from a sensor (and probably a PIC) but we never raised much enthusiasm for it, or the output. The "centre of gravity" of the LF community is probably below the viewing zone as well......you will have to chase all those Scottish microwave men.
