All versions of ARGO have worked on my 133 and 166 mhz desktop computers with just the odd crash over the past couple of years but my laptop 166 mhz pentium Compaq  does not, and with the new version 131 is even worse. There must be something peculiar with the laptop. I am using windows 95/c but I notice Compaq alter 95 and use additional files unlike the standard desktop operating system.

Ian and Mal,
Compaq does use indeed, on some models, a customized version of
Microsoft Windows. Unfortunately I don't own a Compaq PC, and none
of my friends does, so I see a bit difficult for me to try to debug such a
compatibility problem.
Probably the MMSYSTEM APIs used by Argo clash with some idiosyncrasies
of that customized Windows version.

At this point, I am sorry, but I have to declare myself unable to solve this problem
for lack of resources.
