Thanks Markus for this info ! Tomorrow morning I will perform some tests based on this information. I use exclusively the 16-million color mode, as with today's graphics cards it seems that there is no performance gain going lower in color resolution. And both Spectran and Argo have been designed with this in mind. As a matter of fact, I was forced to add some bandaids here and there to support, somehow, the 256-color mode, as some users are fond of this mode.... it seems that one of those bandaids isn't strong enough...
