We hope tomorrow to be QRV by about 1500 UTC transmitting during the "odd" hours (eg. 1500-1600 UTC) on 136Khz using the callsign G3WSC and G3GRO/P on 73KHz during the "even" hours with a reasonably accurate 1W ERP on both bands using the known efficiency figures previously established by Decca Ltd. It is hoped that this might establish some level of signal comparison on the two bands and perhaps allow calibration of home made signal strength meters. We will announce which band we are listening each time and expect to be on site until about 20-00 UTC at least.. We also hope to have a more extensive spell of operation next weekend with higher ERP for some limited spells (if the NOV is cleared in time) with ERP reducing in controlled steps. We also hope to be joined by other operators who have indicated their interest in taking advantage of the opportunity - these include Jim G0BMU and Mike G3XDV .We also hope to transmit using QRSS. We will post proposed schedules on the reflector after the visit tomorrow. For the record - despite another in the long stream on sour and knocking messages on the reflector from the direction of Scarborough, - the operation from the old Decca site is not "sponsored" by Racal Decca - we merely have the opportunity of access to the mast during the very limited period before the sites are being dismantled - and have a bit of fun in the process ! On the Decca site, our mobile telephone number for skeds etc. will be 07790 242930 73, G3KAU, G3GRO Home phone nos. (0)1293 522428 (KAU) and (0)1293 520424 (GRO)
