This allows me now to transmit SSB based modes such as PSK31, Hell, RTTY, etc. on LF. I had my first PSK31 duplex QSO today (well, actually, my XYL Andrea, DL3ABC operated the PSK31 LF station while I was sitting 2.5 km away with my mobile receiving station answering her on 2m), so the setup seems to work! I will send a 1 hour PSK31 test transission tomorrow, Sunday, September 5, 1999 between 09.00 and 10.00 UTC on 137.450 kHz. The output level will be approximately 3 dB less than my usual signal. Whoever would like to run a full PSK31 (or QPSK) QSO, please send me an e-mail (dk8kw@compuserve.com), I would love to conduct the first DL to wherever PSK31 QSOs! PSK31 is a PC-based transmission mode. G3PLX has written a simple (free-ware) program that only needs the soundcard to transmit and/or receive PSK31. The program can be downloaded at the PSK31 official homepage (http://bipt106.bi.ehu.es/psk31.html, current version 1.08). The big advanages of this transmission mode are the very narrow bandwidth of 31 Hz and the very good tolerance aginst noise. Similar to Slow CW, PSK31 signals can be detected even if they are below the noise floor. CU, best 73 Geri, DK8KW (W1KW)
