I could not hear the station after 11.00 gmt, as indicated first, and due to increasing QRN lowered my listening activity, but heard OE5ODL with cq at 13.48 gmt. As I am living close to the OE5 border radio contact could be established immediately, it was the first qso of OE5ODL, I got RST 449 and easily could give RST 569 in spite of rather high afternoon QRN. OE5ODL was located at Ried, (JN68RF) on the road from Braunau to Wels, and the station had been erected in connection with a fieldday which is held regularly at about this time of the year. The distance to my QTH (JN68GN), as measured on a map, was about 78 km. The operator was Peter, OE5PGL (also mbr of G-QRP-C No 1472), the transmitter (70 W out) has been built by Heinz, OE5EEP, the aerial (described as a "marconi 470 meters long") by an OM named Ossi (Call unknown so far). The receiver was a FT 1000 MP behind a converter. To my disappointment (and possibly that of others) OE5ODL could only be QRV this Saturday over the fieldday, they could not follow my advice to be qrv again on sunday morning when QRN would probably be lower and chances for more QSOs much greater. After I have signed off at 14.24 I heard DL1SAN calling OE5ODL, but I could not observe the band any longer due to other duties. But the equipment is existing, and so let us hope that OE will show up again on LF as soon as possible. 73 Ha-Jo, DJ1ZB
