I observe DCF 39 very regularly,as it is menacing my receiving all the time. I found that there is a certain difference in its fields -vertical/horizontal power containment. When i put up my new and higher antenna i did lessen the amount of horizontal wire by lenght - though i have more shorter horizontal wires higher now. That means i have less horizontal pick-up.And the first thing i found is that DCF 39 was about 5 db down on the new antenna. The rest of the equipment untouched. It is not due to less efficiency of the new antenna as everybody told the signal being better now. What i want to say is,that somebody could be misleaded in his efforts by doing comparisons before and after alterations, especially if the change involved a major shift from horizontal elements to vertical elements of the radiator total length. These are just my findings and thats why i fully agree with You about the meaningless of the measurements that should be taken, but who knows what further insight that may bring.Good Dx to everyone ! de wolf -df2py-
