Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Sender: Precedence: bulk Reply-To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org Hello LF Gang, Those of you who have never heard of the HAARP project may want to check it out at http://www.haarp.alaska.edu, where a lot of information is available on this non-classified project. Essentially , a _lot_ of RF power will be beamed upwards (sort of a super-duper Luxembourg Effect experiment :-) Although the transmissions are not, at this point in time, directed toward Europe, you may well be able to receive a few sniffs of RF here and there (which almost a megawatt of Tx power...who knows? After all, last month at nags Head, we were hearing European broadcasting stations quite well, with the same kind of power levels). HAARP will be operating almost continuously this month from March 8th through March 27th. Many experiments are being run that concern basic ionospheric research and ELF generation techniques. (Attempts at generation of ELF will be made by pulsing the transmitters). The HAM listening test is of course a CW message sent with full power (960 kW) into the array (15 dB gain). The QSL card is a real nice photo of the array, definitely a collector's item. You may also want to check the ARRL web site for the HAARP listening test schedule. Good luck and 73, Andre' Kesteloot N4ICK
