Problem is that the sounder is not very loud & usually not heard. The idea then is that the operator goes into QSO mode to reply to the caller. It's a great idea & would work better if the alarm audio was sent to the default sound card & would be heard thro' the amplified speakers. This is an extract from the user guide :- *It warns us through the PC's speaker when a message is received. This option is well suited to keep on listening while carrying out other activities in the computer with the programme minimized.* I will make a suggestion to Jose about directing the alarm signal to the default sound card. 73 Gary - G4WGT On 2 May 2010 10:50, James Moritz wrote: > Dear Gary, LF Group, > > OK Gary - was getting 100% copy of your beacon signal until I called you... > from the way your signal disappeared after I transmitted, I had a sudden > feeling my call had initiated some kind of self-destruct sequence in your > shack ;-) > > Will hopefully be around this evening at some stage to try again. > > Cheers, Jim Moritz > 73 de M0BMU > > > ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary - G4WGT" > To: > Sent: Sunday, May 02, 2010 10:29 AM > Subject: Re: LF: ROS 503.600kHz beacon > > > > Hi All, >> >> Thanks for the reports & QSO attempt. >> >> Michel - F5WK >> Nicolas - F4DTL >> Rik - OR7T/ON7YD >> Gerhard - DK6NI >> and >> Jim - M0BMU for QSO attempt which produced 2 full frames on my ROS >> display, >> sorry Jim but I had just left the shack & gone downstairs & missed your >> call >> :- >> >> TX1: <21:10 UTC> G4WGT TEST IO83QO >> RX1: <21:12 UTC> <43.9 Hz> G4WGT DE M0BMU HW? OK, the thing is that when ROS is set to PTT= loop mode, when a call is detected (may be a valid frame received or poss= ibly operators call sign) it stops the loop & sends an alarm sound to= the PC motherboard sounder. Problem is that the sounder is not very loud= & usually not heard.

The idea then is that the operator goes into QSO mode= to reply to the caller. It's a great idea & would work better if= the alarm audio was sent to the default sound card & would be heard= thro' the amplified speakers.

This is an extract from the user guide :-
It warns us through the PC's speaker when a message is= received. This option is well suited to keep on listening while carrying= out other activities in the computer with the programme minimized.

I will make a suggestion to Jose about directing the= alarm signal to the default sound card.

Dear Gary, LF Group,

OK Gary - was getting 100% copy of your beacon signal until I called you..= . from the way your signal disappeared after I transmitted, I had a sudden= feeling my call had initiated some kind of self-destruct sequence in your= shack ;-)

Will hopefully be around this evening at some stage to try again.

Michel - F5WK
Nicolas - F4DTL
Rik - OR7T/ON7YD
Gerhard - DK6NI
and
Jim - M0BMU for QSO attempt which produced 2 full frames on my ROS display= ,
sorry Jim but I had just left the shack & gone downstairs & missed= your call
