The morning peak was dramatic. Perhaps the depressed DST is not so bad. The TX is behaving well, now that the ice is off the tower. Another run is planned for tonight and tomorrow morning until 0900. Laurence, thanks for your story on the warm L2. As Alan says it does take a lot of current. There are bigger wires in the junk box so the next step is to try that. The heat should be doing something more useful such as warming the worms in the back yard. Thanks for listening in XE. That would be a nice one! Hi John KB5NJT. Thank-you for the suggestion of the torroid cores and congrats on 18000 hrs on your fets. The IRFP140 was tried when it was leanrnt that the IRF540 was a 100 volt device and all the IRFP250 and IRF640's had given up their smoke. Alan's FET's also enjoy a long and productive life. Perhaps Mother Nature plays a role in the high fet mortality at this station. It's common for aerials to get iced, shorted and open circuited. If anyone would like to give their TX a harsh-environment test, this is the QTH for that. 73 to all Joe VO1NA
