I dont think a straight forward product mixer will do.
That is essentially what G4JNT's simple phasing upconverter design (

Well more of a frequency modulator, but this generates a 1500Hz modulated
audio output from a PIC code generator. I think G3XIZ already has the 1500Hz
modulated audio available from his existing PC, he just needs a way to get
it onto 500kHz.
