As you proburly know the AM TX at Akraberg has been off air fore some=20
months. The reason was that the old ABB 200KW transmitter did brake=20
down, with a majur failiuar on the modulation section, and it was to=20
expencive to repear it. And when the transmitter allso was rather=20
un-efficient, a decition was taken to order a new one.

The new configuration will be one 100KW main TX + 50KW back up TX. Both=20
from Thomson. Medio of August the back up TX was put on air temporarly,=20
untill the poject to install the main TX is done.

The Faroese Telecom company is the contractor on this project, and they=20
allso run's the AM TX site. I have therfore forwarded your mail to them,=20
and asked them to take care of that the modulation are within the=20
standard ITU rouls.

I must say so sorry for the unnecessary noice we are generating on=20
Akraberg 531 kHz.

The status is, that the TX wich is on air now, is a emergency=20
transmitter, wich are lent from Thomson. We are been told that the TX=20
need some serius adjustment, and the Thomson people have admit, the=20
problem.

The solution will be, that Thomson are deliver a brand new TX - propper=20
adjusted from the factory, and it is under installation right now, these=20
days.

The whole re-built Akraberg station will be finnish aprox the 16th of=20
December this year.

We are indeed looking forward to get all these temporarily probolem=20
solved for good :)
