Both stations would have been using locked sources - to GPS I presume - so
getting the few Hz accuracy wouldn't have been any problem.  "Up there", the
issue becomes more one of getting the phase noise and jitter down on the
frequency/phase locking circuitry rather than frequency itself.   

Here QRSS can actually help as the processing filters out any phase noise
and sidebands more than a few Hz from the carrier, so provided the frequency
locking PLL(s) for the ,  master oscillator and RF source oscillator have
bandwidths greater than the signalling bandwidth to keep close in phase
noise down, all will work fine.   Locked microwave sources end up being more
difficult for SSB than for narrow band modes !

Hi Rik the mind boggles a bit when you think of the stability required for
QRSS up there even 3 sec dot mode. Still I suppose it all relative and you
can read QRSS even if it "zips across" the screen, and need retuning.
Freddie was demo'ing SpecLab at one of the recent Martlesham uWave events. I
think he was suggesting it as a beacon monitor.
