I thought about your hum filter. Did you try to vary the settings for it? Could be helpful to get the NB settings from one dublicated channel using the hum filter and apply it to the other one, using no hum filter (?) Just a thought. Or a simple clipping instead of a notch filter, a clipping that reduces the peak level to the sourrounding noise level. I'm not an expert here, but thinking anyway :-) 73, Stefan Am 24.01.2017 19:08, schrieb Paul Nicholson: > > Stefan wrote: > > > The first EbNaut message was decoded over a distance farer > > than 1 wavelength on the 101 km band. > > Well done. We are writing radio history, a bit, at least it feels a bit like that in the moment.

Well, so far 3 characters passed over 3 wavelengths.
Let me try 5 tomorrow!:

f = 2970.000000 Hz
Start time: 25.Jan.2017   07:00:00 UTC
Symbol period: 30 s
Characters: 5
CRC bits: 16
Coding 16K25A
Duration: 9h, 20m, 0s
Antenna current: 150 mA

Did you have some succes with the evaluation of the night transmission, 21th/22th? I thought about your hum filter. Did you try to vary the settings for it? Could be helpful to get the NB settings from one dublicated channel using the hum filter and apply it to the other one, using no hum filter (?) Just a thought. Or a simple clipping instead of a notch filter, a clipping that reduces the peak level to the sourrounding noise level. I'm not an expert here, but thinking anyway :-)

Well done.   And it gets better -

Decoded at Bielefeld distance 303.8km via DL4YHF's online
receiver.

Copied 'ULF' at Eb/N0 = +2.4 dB constant reference phase.
BER 36.7%, carrier 14.7 dB in 34.7 uHz,  -63.9dB in 2.5kHz.

There was one timing glitch - a backward step of one sample
but it decoded without having to adjust for this.

I will look at Cumiana now!
