They were quite cheap, just 0.25 EUR for each. They seem to be T106-28. The idea is to stack them into a plastic tube to form a long rod. Maybe it is possible to build a compact VLF loading coil for a permanent installation and transmission here on the roof. In my tests in 2011 i needed a parallel fixed cap to resonate the antenne to 8.97 kHz with my large loding coil known from the kite experiments. Maybe, with this iron powder rod, it is possible to come down to 8.27 kHz without an additional C. So the efficiency would be higher. 1 A (and 41 kV rms) antenna current should be no problem for the wire and antenna. In the kite experiments i got up to 1.8A, however this was during CW operation (using 60 mF / 350 V parallel to the supply/generator). I need to start to play with the VFO to see if the signal is still stable for slow modes. This could be done today :-) 73, Stefan
