Hello Chris,

The gate of the JFET at the input of the antenna will start to 
conduct when the voltage gets high and prevents it to rise higher. 
In other words, it is protecting itself.

You should look at the output as it can deliver a bit of power, 
which might be a problem for the receiver front end.
