Oh, they sell it! Quite expensive, i find.

I think it depends on where you want to place the antenna later. On the 
top of a house or on the car in an open field it works without an 
additional wire. If you place it in or below or beside a tree or in the 
field shadow of a house, some additional wire could be helpful to rise 
the signal level. But often this does not rise the SNR, just the level. 
I would try it without additional wire first and see if the signal 
levels are high enough. Its better to put it into a QRM-clean and free 
standing environment.
