Thanks Mal - as usual 'armchair copy' from your side.
The QSO was remarkable since I heard the thunder around the shack while 
still transmitting.
Also thanks for info abt Jul - I only caught him one single time in "QSO 
mode" (crossband MF/HF). The beacon is one of the strongest signals here 
in northern DL (near Bielefeld) so it's a pity they don't use it for 
two-way operations more often.
