Thankyou for your very useful comments regarding the positioning of th= e PA0RDT Mini-Whip, I am fortunate that the radio room is remote from= the house and has a separate eathing system. If I increase my 500kHz= ERP to 1W, will I still be ok, or will protection diodes be required= on the input FET gate? 73 Ken M0KHW ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Gary - G4WGT=20 To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org=20 Sent: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 10:13 AM Subject: Re: LF: PA0RDT Mini-Whip Hi Ken, I have my Mini-Whip mounted with a short length of PVC tube on an1.5= metre aluminium stand off arm attached to my main steel (100mm square= ) mast at about 9 metres high. I have been reading the recent posting regarding the PA0RDT Mini-W= hip earthing etc, and am becoming rather confused. I am hoping to con= struct a Mini-Whip over the Christmas break, but have issues regarding= the positioning of it, the original drawings show it on a non metalli= c mast, if I mount it high it will be within 2m vertical separation an= d a 3m horizontal separation of the top horizontal section of the ante= nna, the other option would be to mount it 1m above ground which will= give a 8m vertical separation and a 4m horizontal separation. Just to= add further problems if elevated vertically it is very close to veget= ation, and at the 1m position it will be close to the neighbour=92s ch= ain link fence. The Mini-Whip will be connected to the shack with appr= oximately 25m of 50 ohm coax. Your comments will be gratefully receive= d. 73s Ken M0KHW ------=_NextPart_000_0063_01CA8355.B3933BB0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="Windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dwindows-1252" http-equiv=3DConte= nt-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.18854"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Hi Gary and Roelof.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Thankyou for your very useful comment= s regarding=20 the positioning of the PA0RDT Mini-Whip, I am fortunate that the radio= room is=20 remote from the house and has a separate eathing system.
