Quoting the initial posting by Stefan, regarding reception in South America=

I can confirm first hand that the IC-703 is virtually dead down at 137 =20
kHz. My references are the Icom IC-R75, JRC NRD-91 and even the Icom =20
IC-718.

Could we compile a list of known & tried suitable receivers for 137kHz ?
