These OLIVIA/MFSK experiments are trying to establish the relative performance of various coding and modulation schemes on a band that hitherto has been dominated by high power manual telegraphy. If any mode can be considered to be an "established mode" it's your beloved CW. The flurry of interest and activity when a new datamode it tested is in stark contrast to, as you frequently decry, the low level of CW useage. The datmode experimenters are using the band for the purpose it was released by OFCOM, experimantation. OFCOM aren't going to care if an experiment uses the full 3kHz, if that's what it takes to generate useful data for those involved. If you can't find anywhere to send your repetetive "CQ CQ CQ QSK QSX 3533" beacon transmissions then that's a small price to pay. More people are gaining useful insights, which is the purpose of the exercise. You, it could be said, are trying to use 500kHz as a "normal" amateur band with inane "599 = QRU = 73" QSOs intended to show no scientific value or "self learning" whatsoever. If you don't like it - then go elsewhere, leave the true experimentation to those more capable.
