So it seems that ferrite indeed may work. Probably not as good as any other alternative but who knows, at least it may lead to another interesting experiment. And that is what I like. @Stefan: I already knew of the ferrite that you can buy at the webshop of Funkamateur. Expensive though, a 60-rod sleeve antenna will set you back EUR 360 !! 73's Minto pa3bca. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ceterum censeo Carthaginem delendam esse From: Clemens Paul Sent: Monday, August 15, 2011 00:01 To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org Subject: LF: Re: Re: 137 grabbers Minto, as to DCF77: my radio controlled Citizen wrist watch receives DCF77 extremely reliably every night with its built in ~2cm ferrite rod antenna. Even presently here at the Cote d'Azur field strength is indicated as "high" (the watch indicates three grades:high, medium, low). I find this amazing. 73 Clemens DL4RAJ ----- Original Message ----- From: Minto Witteveen To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 9:43 PM Subject: LF: Re: 137 grabbers I haven’t thought about ferrite RX antenna for LF….My guess is that it is not going to work – not without an external antenna coupled to the ferrite, and then what’s the point? DCF77 clocks often have trouble locking indoors or in the neighborhood of ‘QRM’ generators like PC’s, and look what power DCF77 is using… I could be entirely wrong of course… 73’ Minto pa3bca From: Stefan Schäfer Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 20:03 To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org Subject: Re: LF: Re: 137 grabbers BTW what do you think about a ferrite RX antenna for LF?
