above is what it is..The day started relatively quiet here.=0AI'm not sure =
about the noise level at Dex's QTH. His grabber did show some " grunge " on=
 the=0Adisplay, but appeared to be typical for 160 meters.. I was using my =
Kenwood TS450S in VOX mode,=0Aand the 160 Meter OCF Windom - Apex at 40' AG=
L, and the ends at 20" AGL.. The power output=0Ais as stated in the data. I=
 stayed on the air till the storm system got too close for comfort..=0A=A0=
=0AWSPR mode has amazed me at how well it can get thru, But I have never se=
en a decode of a =0Asignal that at least a very weak trace in the waterfall=
 was seen...=A0 no trace; - no decode...=0A=A0=0AOPERA mode had me with my =
" mouth hanging open ", as the data shows; there were repeated,=0Aand consi=
stent decodes while running .5 Watts over the 210 mile path which is also o=
ver the Great =0ASmokey Mountain range.. What astonished me most was lookin=
g at Dex's grabber shot of OPERA=0Aduring the test; There were NO Signal Tr=
aces showing, but the software was still decoding !!!=0A=A0=0AI have read a=
ll the claims of " decoding under the noise level " but never could find an=
y program that=0Aactually did that without a trace being seen, or a sound b=
eing heard... The test I tried today with=0AOPERA in OP-8 mode from all ind=
ications I have; did just that !! Nothing Seen ! ; Nothing Heard ! ,=0ASoli=
d Decodes !! During the middle of the day, on 160 meters... During the time=
 I was at .25 Watts;=0AI had a phone call that kept me away from the rig.. =
I believe that .5 Watts would have decoded=0AAll Day.....=0A=A0=0AMy emperi=
al observations have also shown that if WSPR loses signal; it can take 2 or=
 3 transmissions=0Afor the program to " rebuild " the data.. OPERA seems to=
 " grab the signal " right away as soon as it is=0Adetectable by the softwa=
re...And Decode .. =0A=A0=0AI have NO interests of any kind in this softwar=
e, as a matter of fact this is the first time I have used it=0Afor transmit=
 purposes.... My thoughts about OPERA's possibilities are really in the for=
m of a question;=0AIf this were developed beyond beaconing, into a communic=
ations software; " How Low Can You Go ??? "=0A=A0=0ABinary type coding, nar=
row CW type Bandwidth, single frequency occupancy .. =0AI could really get =
