Content preview: Paul, Great data as always. I don't know the to-from polarity of your phase measurement; but: the slope of phase change and the slope inflection point at 04:30 look generally consistent with what they would be for this path length over land/water in March*. Do you happen to have March parameters for LWPC? (shape of diurnal phase characteristic varies quite a bit month-by-month for this path length) Asking this as a an additional means of confirmation, if needed. In that context, did the signal appear at or near Bob's switch-on time? * (Davies pg 383 for example; but your LWPC phase results with March parameters would be more representative than my extrapolation from Davies) Jim AA5BW -----Original Message----- From: owner-rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org [mailto:owner-rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org] On Behalf Of Paul Nicholson Sent: Sunday, March 2, 2014 1:09 AM To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org Subject: Re: LF: Re: U.S. VLF License WH2XBA > Here's what he's sending ... http://www.w1vd.com/grabber.html Thanks Jay. Later I will make a spectrogram (the signal is recorded) but I don't think I will be able to resolve the Morse. I am happy that the tx preserves carrier phase in between dots otherwise it would not be possible to do long integration. The carrier stability is excellent and the little apparent error in the frequency can be blamed on the path length varying during the night. tx must be using rubidium or GPS. Signal level should drop soon as dawn arrives here in UK and we may see the phase lead increase as the path shortens for the daytime ionosphere. 2014-03-02_05:15:00 0.14 fT 12.3 deg 2014-03-02_05:30:00 0.15 fT 13.1 deg 2014-03-02_05:45:00 0.12 fT 3.2 deg -- Paul Nicholson --
