It will allow correction down to 1 second intervals if you really wanted to go for that and every few minutes or whatever is no problem. It keeps you informed too of the synchronisation history. Another option is an MSF unit of the kind designed for use with PCs. I have a small battery operated Galleon unit with a serial interface. Galleon stuff is overpriced but this module uses parts from HKW in Germany as well as their software so self assembly is an option.
