If you don't transmit solid QRSS dots and dashes you are throwing away some of the theoretical advantage of being able to integrate the power in a narrow bandwidth. Personally after listening to it for a couple of years I find I can read 3 sec dot QRSS by ear....certainly 2 character calls.... Mind you it may be an effect of encroaching geriaticity!!
