Even a piece of wire, a few metres long thrown over a hedge or tree or as high as you can get it is better than the small loop, or other contraptions of micro antennas, Resonated at frequency of interest, or add a small preamp if necessary. If it has to be a circular loop use a length of tin lined plastic central heating tube and bend it to the required diameter and pin it to a suitable wooden frame with plastic pipe clips as used to secure small bore water pipes up to 1 inch diameter. Build a suitable preamap and the whole project costs little or nothing depending on junk box stock On your visit did you get the correct house because you have to travel along a private drive/road to get to my house at the end, there are a couple of bungalows on the way there and to view the antennas you have to travel past my road until you get to a farm gate on the left and view the antennas by looking over the gate towards the South. Had I been at home when you visited you could have called and seen the Engine Room de mal/g3kev/Scalby ----- Original Message ----- From: "Terry GW0EZY" To: Sent: Friday, December 16, 2011 2:13 PM Subject: LF: RE: Re: RE: Re: Wellbrook Loop > Hi Mal > > Sorry - couldn't resist the comment - especially as I expected you to remark > on poor loop performance compared to the large antenna examples you mention. > Of course, in practice amateurs have to do the best with the opportunities > they have and loops can provide amateurs living in a challenging QTH with > useful lf experience especially taking into account the low noise > properties. > > I have relatives in Scarborough and we stay at Burniston.
