Thanks for your reply. The pickup loop is basically as you described, but with a

slight difference. The feedline comes to the bottom of the loop where the shield

is exposed, then continues around the frame to complete one turn. At the end,

both the inner conductor and the shield are connected to the exposed shield

where the feedline/loop transition is. There is a half inch gap in the shield at

the top, directly opposite that connection, which stops the shield from being

seen as a shorted turn. I'm told that another feature of doing it that way is

that it forms a built in balun. I was striving for symetry.

The clamps are in the wrong plane to present a short, so don't worry about that. Describe the connection of the feedline to the RG-213 link, please. I'm guessing that the coax feedline comes to the bottom, continues around to form the loop, and then the center conductor attaches to the feedline shield at the bottom, with no shield connection from the end. Sound right?
