I agree, it's hard to keep them with us.

But even some adults are doing the same thing. I suspect they need some
motivations.
Not all the people are auto-motivating. Some just give up after a short.

This kid is already going strong with a 20 Mt PIC controlled colpitts
oscillator beacon,
While studying for his license exam in November. Not so bad. Let's see =
in
the future.

Yes, and with some luck they (not all but many) will solder a christmas=20
tree with some green LEDs (e.g. http://www.df0wl.de/projekte.html)=20
and/or will buy a 2m/70cm FM hand TRX, will do some packet radio or APRS =

and 2 years later they are gone...
Normally and regularly using the bands without becoming tired to have=20
QSOs with some nice content (here called rag-chewing) is rare :-(

But there are exceptions :-)
