tests of lf which go back 15 years with  special permit i carried out recept=
ion tests with 1000ft on foot hills to west of timaru next to the estate of=20=
late lord elworthy who was head of raf uk .thepickup of beacons and quietnes=
s directivity etc most effective...variants of that  of only  100ft of wire=20=
2or 3 ft above ground also..u must drive long pipe into ground each end and=20=
use capacitive or inductive means to couple..2 wires at right angles and 4 p=
ipes and switch directivity..that was tried by several lf hams...lots of tri=
cks to use on lf  ...first lf transmissions in timaru 100years ago by a tech=
 school boy who jammed out the british navy war ships in our port..their xta=
l sets wernt selective  hihi..the brits pounced on him he had a spark tx fed=
 into a disused telephone wire...he became a ham..i started off as school bo=
