Laurie,

I've been using an LF preselector with an EF37 amp for some years - otherwise known as the R107 LF unit!  I did a little article for RADCOM sometime in 1964 about the theory of those 807 distribution amplifiers and how to make one. It was their linearlity with big signals that made them so useful.  Most warships used them so they could put out kW nearby and still be able to listen.
