Last evening (13 Dec) was not all that bad down on 73 kHz. There were two
periods of decent copy, the first from about 0000 to 0100, and the second
from 0430 to 0700. In both cases, Laurie's and Jim's signals both went in
and out together.

Laurie definitely had the better signal here. Got the end and the beginning
of an ID during the first peak, and a complete ID and some pieces in the
second. Still could not get a full ID from Jim. The M0 is visible twice, but
it sure takes a long time to send!

There has not been a repeat of evening-long good propagation in three weeks.
In the interim, we have been getting periods of 1-2 hours where some signal
is present. Laurie has a clear advantage here, with the shorter ID time, to
say nothing of the more quickly recognized signal. I wonder if WOLF would be
a possibility at this frequency. I would think that the antenna bandwidth
might be too narrow, but don't have enough details to make a judgement.
Jim's WOLF signal on 136 kHz was excellent here last winter, and I wonder if
it is possible for him to transmit in that mode at 73 kHz.
