The AOR 7030 has 2.56 Hz steps but 10Hz indicaton. It sits on frequency for months on end and I never need to adjust the cal on my waterfalls. But switch the power off and when it comes back on (even with the tuning "locked") it jumps to the nearest 10Hz step. I guess this is because the memory only stores the last frequency to that resolution, not to the tuning step size. I suppose having tuned in the frequency on the dail you should switch off and then on again before doing the waterfall calibration so ensuring you are always exactly on a 10Hz point.
