 The better texture for balloons is natural latex, weather balloons are the best, but the price is expensive ( ~90€ for a 4m diameter one).
The problem with balloons is that this thingy do what he like in case of wind; he prefer to fly horizontally, not vertically because of his great surface; and the ground is rarely soft,...  That's why i prefer kites.
Balloons are always porus with light gaz; more porus with hydrogen than helium ( molecule size).

I got a couple of met balloons a while back and decided to inflate them for LF airborne activities but it was a big disappointment, although new they seem to be porous and the gas escaped within a couple of hours. Perhaps met balloons are porous so that when they achieve the object they deflate and drop to earth in a short period of time.
Where can I get a big ex govt barrage balloon?
