A number of us in the UK are currently exploring Linux as a general=20 replacement for Messrs gates and Co OS's.
 
The motivations in my case and I suspect many others are=20 various.
Firstly there is the need to consider the number of licensed copies o= f=20 Windows (various flavours) needed when you own more than one PC and the=20 associated costs of upgrades etc.
Secondly there is the requirement to retain the use of older "legacy"= =20 machines which are perfectly serviceable for many tasks but lack the resou= rces=20 required for later flavours of "windblows"
