The reason for transatlantic QRSS operation below 136kHz is because of CFH, which is located close to VE1ZJ and VE1ZZ. Most of this operation takes place through the night. I have often seen the 136kHz spectrum viewed via Argo, with several QRSS stations a few Hz apart (below 136) while there are no signals at all in the wide open spaces above 136kHz.
