Hi all, there seems to be a regular search for insulators capable of
handling the higher voltages generated at LF (Or maybe we are the only
amateurs actually 'making' aerials )
At a recent Rally I came across a local trader with some brand new
brown-glazed ceramic 'rod' insulators for wire aerials at 25p each. (I
bought 8)  They are about 10.5cms long and 1.7cms diameter, with a leakage
path of about 6.5cms (between the holes). Possibly a little small for the
Kilowatters, but at least they wont catch fire.  Knowing the location of the
trader and the source of some of his stock I suspect these may be 'marine'
in origin. Although he only had a small quantity on show, it is possible he
has many more available. If there is any interest I will try and contact
him, about mail order supply. His phone is ex-directory so this may take a
little while. If he has more I am willing to take orders and ship them from
here, as I dont think he is really into mail order.
