I have fixed the TS850 so should be able to hear the DX again.... noise permitting! The fault was one of the DDS chips on the "CAR" unit, the one that produces the mix frequency from 8.8MHz to 455kHz. Thanks to all those who offered help and advice..... "throw it away and get a new one" indeed! The rig-doctor rules OK! ( £35 64-pin surface-mount chips a speciality.) Dave 'YXM
